Since 2017 at St Andrew's Cathedral I've aimed to run 2-3 practical theology seminars each year. The aim of these seminars is to cover topics of practical theology that... i) might not easily be traversed in a 25min exegetical sermon, ii) might require more 'back and forth' interaction than is typical in preaching, and iii) can help participants reflect on everyday concerns Christologically. Below are PDF's of the participant workbooks I put together for each seminar. You are welcome to download them and pilfer from them as suits you. Just click on "Download File" below each image. I don't have fully typed notes for each of these seminars. However (upon request) I may be able to scan the hand written notes from which I presented and email them to you. If you have come across any great resources on these topics (particularly those which have a good Christological grounding) I'd love to hear from you in the comments!

This is a (very) first draft of a 5week course I'm trialing. It aims to not only provide some tools for reading the Bible well, but also developing the mindset of delighting in what we read. I'm aiming to give this a good edit in 2019 and i) get it down to a 4 week course, and ii) flatten out some of the personal quirks in the reading tools. One file is a PDF of the weekly worksheets. One file is a PDF of the participant's workbook. ![]()

When we pray in community groups, it can often be a challenge to move beyond whatever "random" prayer requests happen to spring to mind .
A selection of graphics I've knocked together for sermon series.
Most of the graphics use creative commons licenses. Some of the graphics use images I've purchased licenses for. I'm happy to email you the original files to re-use, and re-edit yourself. For some of the series I have additional graphics for each sermon in the series. ***Just email me before using any images so I can confirm if any license restrictions apply - usually they wont. In about 2009 I put together a mission package to encourage Fairfield and Bossley Park churches to think more deliberately about how to reach the city in which we lived. I'd do a few things differently if I were to do it again. However, it did lead to planting a new church and a bunch of other new mission ideas.
Linked below are the promo-video (bit dated now) and bible study series to get us exploring new ways to reach Fairfield with the timeless gospel. |
